Mother's Day: The Beauty of a Handwritten Letter

Mother's Day comes only once a year and each year people around the globe rush to find gifts for their biggest champion: their nurse, their chef, their best friend, their partner in crime (a.k.a. their mum).

However, this year, if your state is involved in the essential lockdown situation, you may not be able to buy her a gift, or take her out to lunch or dinner. What other better alternative than a heartfelt letter to show your mum how special she really is.

The pace of school and the workplace often precludes handwritten letters and notes, as we turn to emails and word processors. But before all this technology, it's crazy to think that a simple pen and paper were the primary means of communication between loved ones. Yes - that means no emails and texts and certainly no video calls.

The beauty of a thoughtful letter can be treasured for years. Visit just about any history museum and you’ll be struck by the impact a letter can have.

So this Mother's Day, may I suggest to you (whilst in self-isolation) to participate in one of history's finest rituals and send a thoughtful note to your Mother.
